PLEASANTDALE GARDEN CLUB MEETINGS & PROGRAMS
                                          2019-2020_MEETING YEAR________
               All Member & Board Meetings will be held at 
                    the Pleasantdale Park District Building,
7425 South Wolf Road, Burr Ridge, unless otherwise noted.

Board meetings begin at 9:00 a.m.  
Member meetings begin at 10:00 a.m. with a social time of coffee and culinary treats prepared by members, followed by our business meeting and the scheduled programs below.

Join us for our regular hospitality time with coffee and treats at 10:00 am, 

followed by our club Business meeting, and then our monthly program.


September 11, 2019 - Meeting 10 am

Program: For The Love of Lavender by Maggie Smith, Nettle Creek Lavender Farm - An intro to the history, varieties, care and vast uses of lavender.    Member Workshop after presentation to create your own floral arrangement learning basic floral design tips from Maggie. $10.

September 20     District II Presidents’ Roundtable Meeting

 October 9 –   Meeting - 10 am

Program: Alliums - 24 Weeks of Color (these onions won't make you cry!)     by U of I Master Gardener speaker Donna Hirsch

 Discover the grace and good manners of these under-appreciated perennials. These easy-to-grow bulbs come in a broad palette of colors, heights, bloom times and flower forms. Every garden needs a few!           Questions: Jean Kendrick 

 

November 13 –   Meeting 10 am

Program: History of The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Chicago - Informative slide presentation will include the formation and history of the MWRDC.  Speaker will touch on the need for trees for water conservation.                 Questions:  Alison Koehler 


 December 11– Meeting 10 am

Program: Check It Out Before You Throw It Out! Rex Newell, 

Rex's Antiques - Antique Appraisals!  Each member can bring 1 item and Rex 

will share his expertise on the item's info and value.   NO  native American or 

oriental items (not his area of expertise).        Questions: Pat Hucko


Members are also asked to bring 2 dozen home baked cookies.  One dozen should be packaged for a local retirement home, and one for the members to enjoy.

February 12- Meeting 10 am

Program: Best New Plants for 2020 by Kim Hartman, Landscape Designer

Kim will highlight the best new annuals, perennials, roses, shrubs, trees, and              veggies. Only those with unique new features, vigor and resistance make the list!     Questions:  Pat Hucko

 

March 11 - Meeting 10 am

Program: Garden Bingo with Jean Kendrick

Join us for a fun morning of games with prizes too!

March 20 - District II Annual Meeting and Luncheon

9:30 am Abbington Banquets, Glen Ellyn.  Prior reservation required.


April 26-27 - Garden Clubs of Illinois State Convention

April 8– Meeting 10 am

Program: The Power and Medicinal Benefits of a Plant-based Diet by the Nutritionist and Wellness Chef of The Nourished Table & Home of Hinsdale.                    Questions:  Kathy Vitalo

April 29 - 9:00 am Board meeting only today

May 6 - NO MEETING – ANNUAL SPRING LUNCHEON
11:30 am - Club Annual Spring Luncheon, Raffle and Program*
Location: Capri Banquets, 6240 Joliet Rd., Countryside 

 Lunch at 12 noon

Program: Fabulous Spring Florals by Kathi Rose, Kaleidoscope of Design     


A college scholarship will also be awarded to a student from Lyons Township 
High School.

Tickets must be purchased no later than two weeks prior to the event for 

a $32 donation (there are no refunds, this is a donation).
