PLEASANTDALE GARDEN CLUB MEETINGS & PROGRAMS
                                          2017-2018_MEETING YEAR________
               All Member & Board Meetings will be held at 
                    the Pleasantdale Park District Building,
7425 South Wolf Road, Burr Ridge, unless otherwise noted.

Member meetings begin at 10:00 a.m. with a social time of coffee and culinary treats prepared by members, followed by our business meeting and the scheduled programs below.

Join us for our regular hospitality time with coffee and treats at 10:00 am, 

followed by our Business meeting, and then our monthly program.


September 13, 2017 - Meeting 10 am

Program:  Round Table Gardening Discussion led by member Kathy Vitalo.

Talk about your summer plantings, success, failures and bring photos of your garden. Share experiences you encountered while tending to your garden.

Afterwards we will visit the historic Vial House next door to view a collection of vintage wedding gowns, narrated by member Aice Latham.


 October 11 –  Meeting - 10 am

Program:  Morton Arboretum visit

After our member meeting at the Park District we will car pool to Morton Arboretum.  Boxlunches and a Tram ride is included.   

 

November 8 –  Meeting 10 am

Program:  "Incredible Bats" by Sharon & Dan Peterson

Learn about the many benefits of these misunderstood and feared creatures.  

Live fruit bats and a skunk will be included in the program.  Adults only.


 December 13– Meeting 10 am

Program:  "Holiday Container Workshop" with Peggy Garvin, Garvin Gardens

Peggy will bring all the materials to help us create a wonderful container. Questions and signup with Bobbie Hett.


Members are also asked to bring 1 dozen home baked cookies.  Half should be packaged for a local retirement hom, CP#4, and half for the members to enjoy.  Please wrap separately.

January 10, 2018– Meeting 10 am

Program: Member Pot Luck Brunch

Every member attending is asked to bring a food dish item to share.

February 14- Meeting 10 am

Program: "How Weather Affects Our Gardens" - Mary Kay Kleist, TV Meteorologist 

 

March 14 - Meeting 10 am

Program:  "The Rose Man", Frank DeVries

Frank will talk about the care and feeding of roses.  He has over 300 roses and 

3 greenhouses.

 

April 11– Meeting 10 am

Program: "Body Beautiful" by Marcy Lautanum-raleigh, owner and founder of Backyard Patch in Villa Park.  Marcy will teach us how to make custom, herbal creations for the bath and skin, including recipes.  Items will also be for sale. 
 

May 2 - NO MEETING – ANNUAL SPRING LUNCHEON

11:30 am - Club Annual Spring Luncheon, Raffle and Program*
Location: Capri Banquets, 6240 Joliet Rd., Countryside 

 

An entertaining program by cabaret singer Heather Braoudakis
will be presented, along with wonderful raffle prizes and lunch. 
A college scholarship will also be awarded to a sudent from Lyons Township 
High School.

Tickets must be purchased no later than two weeks prior to the event for 

a $32 donation (there are no refunds, this is a donation).

 June 13 - CLUB MEMBER OUTING AND 

                    INSTALLATION OF NEW OFFICERS

 Club members will meet at Pleasantdale Park District parking lot 

to board a small bus for a trip to the Rotary Gardens in Janesville, Wisconsin

Lunch is included.

Bobbie Hett will provide details and price of the trip at one of our meetings.
