PLEASANTDALE GARDEN CLUB MEETINGS & PROGRAMS
2021-2022_MEETING YEAR
All Member & Board Meetings will be held at
the Pleasantdale Park District Building,
7425 South Wolf Road, Burr Ridge, unless otherwise noted.
Member meetings begin at 10:00 a.m. with a social hospitality time of coffee and culinary treats prepared by our members, followed by our business meeting and the scheduled programs below.
NOTE: DUE TO COVID 19 HEALTH CONCERNS WE WILL BE SERVING LIMITED COFFEE AND TREATS AT OUR MEETINGS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
CALENDAR OF EVENTS
September 8, 2021 - 10 am Member meeting & Program
Program: Adding Public Gardens to Your Travel Plans by Brock & Ruth Seney
Brock and Ruth are avid travelers, visiting gardens wherever they go. They will show us the beautiful possibilities of what each has to offer by viewing 10 spectacular U.S. public gardens.
September 17 District II Presidents’ Roundtable Meeting - Zoom
October 13 - 10 am Member meeting & Program
Program: Beekeeping and The Importance of the Honey Bee by Pete Soltesz, president of the
Cook DuPage Beekeepers Association and his wife Kim. Honey will be available for sale!
November 10- Member meeting & Program
Program: Biomicicry: Looking to Nature to Solve Today's Problems
Kim White is a master naturalist, a co-steward for the Du Page County Forest Preserve, and
an avid gardener. Kim will talk about examples in which science and technology often look
to nature to sole complex problems.
December 8 - Member meeting, Holiday Grab Bag & Cookies_
Program: Each participating member will bring a $15 new item relating to indoor or outdoor gardening
and we will play a grab bag game.
Members are also asked to bring 2 dozen home baked cookies. (cookies project cancelled)
One dozen should be wrapped on a paper plate for a local retirement home, and
one dozen for the members to share and enjoy. Please wrap separately.

January 12, 2022– 10 am Meeting & Program
Program: Member Pot Luck Brunch (sorry, cancelled due to Covid 19 concerns)
Every member attending is asked to bring a food dish item to share and any needed serving utensils.

February 9 - 10 am Meeting & Program
Program: Celebrating our Club's Birthday Month, we will watch a film about Monarch Butterflies
created by Kay McNeil from Garden Clubs of Illinois .
March 9 - 10 am Meeting & Member Workshop
Workshop: Teacup Garden workshop with Jan
Use a cherished tea cup (or purchase one) to make a fun, easy tiny garden project. Signup required. $10.00
April 13– 10 am Meeting & Program
Program: Amazing Birds by Kathy and Bob Andrini
Enjoy pictures and interesting stories about the behavior of birds.
April 24-25- Garden Clubs of Illinois State Convention
Double Tree Hilton, Lisle Prior signup required.
May 4, 2022 - ANNUAL SPRING LUNCHEON AND FUNDRAISER
WITH PROGRAM ENTERTAINMENT AND RAFFLES
NEW LOCATION! Bella Banquets 5412 S. La Grange Road, Countryside, IL
TIME: 11:30 AM $35 DONATION
PROGRAM: Fabulous Spring Florals by Kathi Rose, Kaleidoscope of Design

May 13 - District II Annual Meeting and Luncheon -
Prior reservation required. Location: Abbington Banquets
June 8 - Club member outing and Installation of new officers
Members will have a cooking class, demonstration, and lunch with Veronica Porter, at her location in Naperville.
July 18 - Garden Clubs of Illinois Summer Meeting
Location: I-Hotel, Champaign Urbana
